Senior Dragons Start Summer with Service

Instead of parting ways for summer vacation, members of Mid-Pen’s Class of 2023 started their break together. This group of newly minted seniors spent the first Tuesday of their break volunteering at Second Harvest Silicon Valley food bank,  which serves more than 450,000 people every month.

"It was really fun,” said one Dragon. “It gave us a chance to bond with each other while serving the community.” The day was organized by members of the school’s Parents Association. All told, the group sorted more than 28,000 pounds of produce, which was packaged for distribution at sites along the Peninsula and the South Bay.

Mid-Pen parent Carmen Navarro works for the County of San Mateo and later in the week, she saw Second Harvest in action at a site in Redwood City as they provided food boxes to the community. Carmen shared the photo below to let our Dragons know their earlier efforts had a direct impact.

Seeing this made me feel so proud of our seniors and their hard work,” she said.

Well done, Dragons!
