Mid-Pen Music Releases New Album

Mid-Pen Music kicked off the winter break by releasing its new album, "Fall 2020."

The album includes 24 tracks contributed by the members of Mid-Pen's five music ensembles; it's available for streaming or download. Each ensemble performed one or two covers collaboratively.  The rest of the tracks were done as individual projects.

"There are many interludes that are short creative pieces that came out of assignments asking students to explore a particular compositional or creative idea," said Music Teacher Jameson Swanagon."These pieces ended up wonderfully moody, evocative little sound worlds, and serve as a nice compliment to the longer pieces when mixed in."

Of special note is that the album was recorded virtually while Mid-Pen remained off-campus during the fall semester. Most of the recordings were done with an online recording platform called Soundtrap, where students can see each other’s tracks as they are being recorded.

"My favorite thing about this work was pointed out to me by a student when she observed how much each student's personality shined through," added Jameson. "Listening in succession to these short pieces is like flipping through a photo album: 'There's Aaron, oh that's Shaun...'"

We couldn't agree more, and we're delighted to enjoy their creativity, energy, and musical talents while listening to this album.

Congratulations, Mid-Pen Music!
