Night of the Arts Celebrates a Year of Student Creativity

Mid-Pen’s walls were exploding with color last Friday evening as students, families, and staffulty gathered for this year’s Night of the Arts celebration. Hallways and classrooms transformed into galleries filled with student-made paintings, sculptures, dresses, architectural structures, digital displays, puppets, VR experiences, and more—each piece representing months of creativity, experimentation, and hard work from our student artists.

The evening also served as a special welcome for some of Mid-Pen’s newest Dragons, as incoming students and families visited campus for their first official event as members of the community. Thank you to our current students, staffulty, and families who helped create a warm and energetic atmosphere that reflected the spirit of Mid-Pen at its best.

More than half of Mid-Pen students either displayed artwork or performed during the evening, making NOTA a true celebration of the many ways creativity thrives across campus. The gallery walks highlighted not only artistic talent, but also the individuality, curiosity, and courage students bring to their work.

Following the gallery portion of the evening, Mid-Pen’s theatre students took the stage for an interactive Improv Showcase featuring fast-paced games and audience laughter throughout the performance. The theatre department also premiered the Theatre Club’s original short film, a project that has been in development all school year. The film balanced humor and drama while showcasing the collaborative work of student writers, actors, filmmakers, and editors.

The evening continued with an artist panel featuring six student artists who discussed their creative processes, artistic choices, and thoughts about the future of art. Their reflections offered insight into the intentionality and passion behind the work displayed throughout the night.

Night of the Arts concluded with performances from Mid-Pen’s six music ensembles, each performing one song as a preview of the full Spring Concert taking place tonight at the historic The Guild Theatre. The performances brought the evening to a fitting close—one final reminder of the extraordinary range of creativity our students have cultivated throughout the school year.
