Welcome from the Head

Welcome to Mid-Pen. Thank you for visiting our site, which gives you a glimpse into the life of our school. Founded in 1979 for students desiring an academic experience that celebrates every journey, Mid-Pen today embodies those same values as it prepares students to make a difference in the worlds they inhabit.

Our mission statement says that “all students belong with expert and compassionate teachers.” At Mid-Pen, the faculty carry out this mission every day. They are knowledgeable educators who constantly seek best practices to improve their skills as they design units and classes that deeply engage their students. Walk into any Mid-Pen classroom, and you’ll see teachers modeling learning as they encourage students to dig into their studies and build collaborative relationships with their peers.

We also believe that compassion is central to the educational experience for all students. Teachers who operate with empathy and understanding allow all students to dream big and to work hard. Too often, students can feel unhealthy stress, especially on the Peninsula. We are a deliberately small school with built-in measures to support students so that Mid-Pen kids can be their best selves each and every day.

Thank you again for your interest in Mid-Pen. I hope to see you on campus in the near future. Go Dragons!

Sincerely,

Karen Eshoo
Head of School
