The Arts at Mid-Pen
Where creativity is the curriculum.
At Mid-Pen, the arts are immersive, interdisciplinary, and driven by student voice. Whether sketching in the studio, building theater sets, or designing community solutions, you will use design thinking and the creative process to explore ideas and express who you are. With expert guidance and room to take risks, you can create work that’s thoughtful, inventive, and often deeply personal. Here, creativity connects—across subjects, mediums, and minds.
Music
This is what together sounds like.
Step into Mid-Pen’s music space and you’ll hear it—drums thundering, guitars riffing, voices blending into something bigger than any one musician. Here, music isn’t just a class; it’s a creative collision of styles, ideas, and personalities.
No auditions, no ego—just students at every level learning, jamming, and performing together. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or fine-tuning your sound, you’ll find a place to play, experiment, and make something unforgettable.
Theatre
Act, build, imagine, belong. At Mid-Pen, theatre is your chance to step into the spotlight or work your magic behind the scenes. Each year, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a full-scale play in the fall and a musical in the spring, with roles both on stage and in stage crew.
In theatre, you’ll explore a wide range of material—from stage fighting to choreographed dancing, from laugh-out-loud comedy to moving drama. Along the way, you’ll develop skills in storytelling, collaboration, and creative risk-taking.
Whether you’re performing under the lights or running the show behind the curtain, theatre gives you the space to take bold chances and be part of something unforgettable.
Visual Arts
Create your own canvas. In our visual arts classes, students build a foundation in drawing, painting, ceramics, and digital media while developing their own creative voice.
Projects encourage experimentation and problem-solving, whether it’s learning a new technique, studying a master artist, or creating an original portfolio.
With small class sizes and individualized feedback, every student has space to explore and grow.
