Learning Support Program
Acknowledging that we live in a neurodiverse world, the Learning Support Program at Mid-Peninsula High School strives to ensure that all students understand how they learn best and how to use available tools and resources to achieve their academic goals. The Learning Support Team empowers students to self-advocate and develop self-awareness skills.
We achieve this goal through the following means:
- Located at the center of campus, the Mid-Pen Learning Support Center is a place where all students are welcome and academic support is available throughout the school day
- Study Center classes employ a hybrid structure that enables highly qualified teachers to teach executive functioning skills, and support reading comprehension, math skill development, critical thinking, and writing.
- Our close-knit community enables the Learning Support Team to offer additional support for classroom assignments and assessments.
- All students have access to highly qualified educators before, during, and after school.
- We create support plans for students with documented learning differences, which include accommodations. Family team meetings take place annually to review student support plans and accommodations.
- We teach advocacy skills to students and support them as they practice those skills when accessing their in-class accommodations.
- Faculty engage regularly in professional development that focuses on teaching our diverse student population effectively to support their academic, social, and emotional development.
The Mid-Pen Learning Support Center is located in the Enrichment Center (The EC) on campus
