  • Tim Biglow: Tim Biglow is the parent of a 2013 graduate. Tim graduated from Stanford University with an A.B. in Music and a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences. He has worked the past thirty years in software management focusing on workflow and process automation. He has served as Vice President of Engineering and Founder of Quantum Mobile and Senior Vice President of Technology at Knowledge Networks. Tim is musically active as a singer/composer/arranger in a local chorus and is a co-founder of the Stanford Fleet Street Singers.
     
    Stephen Bowling: Steve Bowling is a retired Silicon Valley businessman.  He has served as CFO, COO and CEO for various start-up and early public companies, primarily in the computer peripherals and telecommunications industries.  He also served as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.  Steve does pro bono business consulting for non-profit organizations in the Bay Area.  He is a graduate of Williams College and Stanford Business School and earned his CPA with Deloitte and Touche.
     
    Erik Carlson: Erik Carlson is the Interim Middle School Director at Park Day School, a leading progressive K - 8 school in Oakland.  Previously, he was Head of School at Saint Andrew's Episcopal School, Associate Head at Phillips Brooks School, Head of Middle School at Hamlin School, and Dean of Students at Woodside Priory.  In these leadership roles throughout the Bay Area independent schools in the last 17 years, Erik has developed strategic plans, raised funds, designed curricular and co-curricular programs, and supported students, faculty, and families.  He has noticed that the common thread among a wide range of schools is that excellence is founded upon the entire school community investing in the growth of the whole child.  Erik lives in Palo Alto with his wife and two high-school aged daughters and he is a fan of all the Bay Area sports teams.

    Lisa Braun: Lisa Braun is the proud parent of two Mid-Peninsula graduates (2010 & 2012) and she spent 4 years as Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula Parents Association. She received a BA in Mathematics from Pitzer College and for the last 20 years has worked part time for Pacific Retirement Plans, her family’s actuarial consulting & TPA firm. Volunteering and being active in her children’s schools has always been her top priority. In addition, Lisa has served on the Board of Trustees for Peninsula Temple Beth El and continues to be active in the temple community. Fun revolves around her two dogs, tennis and country music!
     
    Jill Christensen: Jill Christensen has been involved with schools most of her life. She is a product of independent schools, and having attended New Canaan Country School, The Ethel Walker School, and Hollins University. She was an active volunteer at Greenwich Country Day School when her children were young. She also developed and ran their lower school (grades K-3) computer program before moving to California in 1991. She served as the Director of Admission and Development at Keys School in Palo Alto for seven years. She then began working with her husband in his child custody mediation business. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Edward E. Ford Foundation, a national foundation that focuses exclusively on independent secondary schools, since 1988. She has three children and five grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys tennis, swimming, and playing bridge.
     
    Mike Foster: Mike Foster is the parent of a 2005 graduate. Mike has worked as a financial officer and venture investor in Silicon Valley for 43 years. He grew up in Los Angeles and Atlanta, studied mainly economics and history at Stanford, served in the U.S. Army as an infantry and intelligence lieutenant, and returned to Stanford for his MBA. Between 1973 and 2003, Mike held senior financial management and planning roles in four successful Silicon Valley companies. Since 2003, he has been a partner in a small venture capital firm, investing principally in young technology and healthcare companies. In addition, on a part-time basis, Mike was the financial officer of the Mid-peninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD) from 1978 until this year, when the District finally hired its first fulltime CFO. He remains a part-time employee of the MROSD board of directors. Mike’s wife, Cathie, served as a MPHS trustee for six years.

    Jeanne Loveland Freiberger: Jeanne Loveland Freiberger is the parent of Max, a 2013 graduate of Mid-Peninsula. She was Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula Parents Association and is active in fundraising for the school. Jeanne is a psychotherapist in private practice. She works with children, adolescents, and adults to identify challenges, focus on strengths and resources, and work toward achieving short- and long-term goals. She has been Assistant Director of Child Services at Family Service Mid-Peninsula and co-founded the Cleo Eulau Center, an agency focusing on solutions for childhood trauma and community collaboration for mental health services. She earned her Masters in Social Welfare at Smith College. She also volunteers for the Square Peg Foundation, which offers adaptive horseback riding programs for children and others at its ranch in Half Moon Bay.

    Ken Friedman: Ken Friedman has a had a career in financial services, but currently is a partner in a construction company specializing in constructing single family residences in Menlo Park and Atherton. Ken reports that after a less than stellar high school career he managed to pursue studies at Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Rochester, and Santa Clara University. Ken is eager to use his high school experience to help guide Mid-Peninsula High in educating students who do not find conventional high school education appealing.

    Patricia Galligan: Patricia Galligan is a past Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula High School Parent Association and the proud parent of a 2012 Mid-Peninsula graduate. Patricia graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland with a degree in Modern Languages and worked as a travel agent before moving with her husband to the U.S. Prior to becoming a stay at home mom of three children, Patricia worked for 12 years for the micro electronics market research firm, Dataquest, as a research analyst. Patricia has been committed to making the schools her children have attended as strong as they can be by developing and managing the Scrip program at her childrens’ elementary school, being a member of the Crab Feed Committee - a major dinner/auction fundraiser for her daughter’s high school, Chairing Scholastic book fairs at her son’s former elementary/middle school, and being a girl scout troop leader and Service Unit Product Manager for Fall Sales. She also helps out at a local not-for-profit spay & neuter clinic. Patricia also enjoys being sous-chef to her husband, traveling with her family and biking.
     
    Merrilee Harris: Merrilee Harris is the proud parent of a 2015 Mid-Pen graduate and has been active in the school’s parent association, including co-chairing DragonFest twice and hosting many fundraising events. In addition to being active in her children’s schools, Merrilee has been a strong supporter of community organizations focused on children and underserved communities. She has served on the board of Children’s Health Council for the past six years, is a founding director of WANDA and is a supporter of Eastside College Preparatory School. Merrilee graduated with a BA in Journalism from the University of Southern California and worked in advertising, publishing and marketing at Architectural Digest Magazine and Young & Rubicam Advertising.

    Mary Hayes: Mary Hayes is the parent of two Mid-Peninsula alumni (2013 & 2015) and served as a Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula Parents Association. Commitment to education has been a hallmark of her career, having served as a teacher, a lifelong student, and an active school and community volunteer. She earned a BA from the University of Notre Dame, an MS in special education from the University of Rochester, and a JD from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. When time permits, she loves traveling, running and rowing.

    Tim Reichert: Tim Reichert is a retired educator who spent thirty-eight years with the Fremont Unified School District as a teacher, department head, and administrator. From 1986-2003, he served as principal of Hopkins Junior High School which, during that time, earned four California Distinguished School awards and was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U. S. Department of Education. Raised in the Chicago area, Tim graduated from Williams College and subsequently received an MA in education from Stanford University. He has resided on the mid-peninsula since 1965.
     
    Andrea Thurber: Andrea Thurber is the parent of two Mid-Peninsula alumni (2008 & 2014) and served as Co-President of the Mid-Peninsula Parents Association during both periods of her children’s enrollment.  Her home was the site of Mid-Pen’s first DragonFest community fundraiser in 2007, and she served on the steering committee that established the MAP (Mid-Pen Alumni Parent) Network in 2015.  An active school and community volunteer, in 1991 Andrea helped establish an off-leash dog park in Sunnyvale, and in 2000 helped found Starting Arts, a Santa Clara county based non-profit arts education provider currently providing CA educational standards-based instruction in Dance, Theatre, Music and/or Visual Arts to over 45,000 children in public schools located throughout the South Bay.  Andrea attended Syracuse University majoring in Chemistry and Art, and SUNY at Buffalo where she graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Medical Technology. 

    Teri Spanner: Teri Spanner is a parent of a former Mid-Pen student who is now at Oregon State University, and another son who is currently a high school sophomore. She graduated from Mission College and The Academy of Health Sciences at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. She worked as a pediatric nurse, helped start a mobile medical clinic for homeless and underserved teens at Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, served in the Army and National Guard, and has volunteered for numerous child, education and health based non-profits. Most recently, she was a former board member and head of Development for the Ragazzi Boys Chorus. Teri has organized and hosted numerous fundraising and community events for multiple charities. A strong advocate in her kid’s schools and community, Teri has been an active supporter of the MPHS parents association, including DragonFest chair. A huge SF Giants fan, she lives in Los Altos with her husband, 2 dogs and 3 cats.
     
    Debbie Vielbaum: Debbie Vielbaum has been a 19 year member of the Charles Armstrong School community, a school for students with Language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, where individualized education is at the core of how they teach and what they teach. In her time at Armstrong she has had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a Classroom Small Group Instructor, President of the Parent Association as well as the Chair of the Development Committee on the Board of Directors. A few years later she resigned from the Board to take the position of Director of Development, and in 2009 became the Director of Admissions and Transitions and Community Relations. These experiences led her to serve as the Interim Head of School and now as the Assistant Head of School.
     
     
    Shelley Willig: Shelley Willig is the parent of a Class of 2017 Mid-Peninsula Alumnis. She received her BA in Communications and spent 20 years in marketing in both creative services agencies and high-tech firms before committing the rest of her life to work and service in education. As a parent of independent school students, and from her 8 years of experience as Director of Admission at Trinity School, Menlo Park, Shelley is particularly biased toward the mission-driven programs of independent schools. Shelley currently coordinates the college advising program at Foundation for a College Education (FCE), a community based organization in East Palo Alto. In her role at FCE, She works directly with high school juniors and volunteer advisors to educate and advise student throughout the college admission process. Shelley earned a certificate in College Admission Counseling from UC Berkeley Extension. Most recently, Shelley is enjoying the opportunity to work with nonprofits in her role as Head of Education Practice at Graybird Foundation. More that anything, she enjoys hiking and dinner conversations with her husband and their four boys.
