Advocacy & Service

Community rooted in respect, kindness, and belonging.

Too many students spend high school just trying to survive socially–hiding parts of themselves to fit in. That’s not learning. That’s shrinking.

At Mid-Pen you’ll find real community–and the confidence to show up fully as you.

Affinity Spaces: Finding Your People

Affinity groups give students the chance to connect around shared identities and experiences—whether that’s culture, race, language, or identity. These groups are student-led and staffulty-supported, offering safe spaces to:

  • Build community and friendship
  • Celebrate shared heritage and identity
  • Learn from one another and advocate for inclusivity across campus

Students don’t have to leave any part of themselves at the door. Affinity groups are one of the ways Mid-Pen ensures you belong here exactly as you are.

Service Learning: Leading Through Action

Mid-Pen’s Learning Service program takes advocacy beyond the classroom. Students put empathy into practice through service projects that:

  • Address real community needs
  • Develop leadership, responsibility, and teamwork
  • Build awareness of how individual actions create collective impact

Whether it’s local volunteering, organizing drives, or larger service partnerships, Learning Service gives students the opportunity to turn values into action.
