Erin Whittaker '93
Mid-Pen's alum Erin Whittaker '93 will be the alumni speaker at this year's graduation ceremony. After transferring from a much larger public high school in the fall of his freshman year, Erin says Mid-Pen allowed him to learn in his own way. "Back then, schools didn't understand learning difficulties as much. I appreciate that Mid-Pen allowed me to learn the way I needed to learn. Mid-Pen just let me figure stuff out."
Erin’s dream had always been a career in sports broadcasting. The day after his high school graduation, he began an internship at KRON Channel 4 in San Francisco, where he worked all through college, eventually becoming a producer for Sports Final, the station’s weekly Sunday night sports roundup. He attended DeAnza College, then San Jose State, where he received his degree in Radio/TV/Film with a minor in Drama Directing.
Erin left the network in 2005 to start his own production company, with a focus on reality-based sports, travel, and food shows. In his spare time, he has volunteered as the head coach of Mid-Pen's boys basketball team since 2016.
