Events and Traditions

At Mid-Pen, school spirit goes beyond sports games and rallies — it’s about showing up for each other, sharing what we love, and celebrating what makes each of us unique. Our calendar is packed with moments, big and small, that bring us together as a community.

Schoolwide Celebrations

Some of our most beloved traditions mark the seasons, milestones, and holidays that shape our year. From the creativity of our Halloween pumpkin-carving contest to the joy of tossing colors at our Holi celebration, these events reflect the diverse passions and identities of our students.

  • Spirit Weeks filled with themed dress-up days and fun challenges
  • Halloween competitions — costumes, tableaux, and pumpkins galore
  • Cultural celebrations including Holi, Día de los Muertos, Lunar New Year, Hispanic Heritage, Black History Month, and National Coming Out Day
  • Seasonal fun like our Ugly Sweater contest, Movie Day, and campus BBQs

Showcasing Student Talent

Our students are endlessly creative — and they love sharing it. Throughout the year, our community comes together to cheer each other on and be inspired.

  • Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day Talent Shows
  • Night of the Arts, a festival of student art, film, theater, and music
  • Spring Concert at the Guild Theater, where our music ensembles take the stage

Milestones & Memories

Some events mark important points along the high school journey — moments of reflection, pride, and connection that become core memories for our students.

  • Senior Sunrise and Senior Sunset, bookending the year with meaning
  • Prom, a magical night planned by students for the whole community
  • DragonWeek, our signature week of immersive, interest-based workshops and travel programs
  • Community Meeting, our weekly all-school gathering led by students and Core groups

The Heart of Mid-Pen

Whether it’s cheering on your friends in a talent show, adding your pet’s photo to the famous Pet Wall, or just showing up for your peers at Community Meeting, these shared moments create the rhythm of life at Mid-Pen. They’re the traditions that make this more than a school — they make it yours.
